A GREENOCK woman attacked a stranger in her own home over a 'taxi' and threatened to petrol bomb the property.

Elena Chavdarova, 31, stormed into the house and pulled the victim down by her hair before branding the woman and her friends 'racists'.

Chavdarova turned up at the house unexpectedly and began shouting and acting in a threatening manner, the sheriff court was told.

Procurator fiscal depute Raeesa Ahmed said: "The accused entered the hallway and began shouting 'that was my taxi'.

"The witness was alarmed and asked her to get out of the house.

"The accused grabbed the witness by her hair and pulled her down.

"She shouted 'I will have your house petrol bombed'."

The court was told Chavdarova, who committed the offence last year, left the home and ran away but she was later traced by police nearby.

When officers approached her, she said: "They took my taxi, they are racists."

Prosecutor Miss Ahmed told the court: "She was arrested, cautioned and charged and replied 'Would I be charged walking down the street?'

"She said: 'I was beaten by ten drunken Scottish'."

Defence solicitor Gerry Keenan said 'matters got on top' of first offender Chavdarova and personal problems she had been experiencing at the time of the offences 'had been exacerbated'.

Mr Keenan added: "She would like to express her regret and a letter of apology to make amends.

"There is a degree of contrition and insight into what happened."

Sheriff Nicola Patrick sentenced Chavdarova to a community payback order with a 12-month supervision requirement and 100 hours of unpaid work to be completed within a year.

The sheriff told her: "Regardless of what has gone on you cannot go into someone's house and behave like this."

A review of the order will take place at Greenock Sheriff Court on September 13.
