INVERCLYDE could be hit with some much-needed rain this weekend as the recent sunny spell makes way for wet weather.
According to the Met Office, the forecast for Saturday and Sunday in Greenock and the surrounding areas is set to revert back to the classic west coast climate, although temperatures will remain high.
Light showers are expected across large parts of the region in the early hours of Saturday morning and in the late evening, with the rest of the day mostly dry and cloudy and a high of 20°.
Sunday will be cloudy again with sunny intervals predicted around lunchtime and similar temperatures in the area.
Rain is again forecast for Sunday evening and into Monday, while periods of rainfall could continue into next week.
