ARTEFACTS at the Watt Institution in Greenock have emerged unscathed after the building took in water.
It was shut last Wednesday following a heavy downpour the night before.
Council officials say staff 'acted swiftly' to prevent any damage to artefacts, with the building reopeening the next day.
A council statement said: “The building, which incorporates the McLean Museum, Watt Library, and Watt Hall, was affected by some water ingress due to the severe rain on Tuesday June 20.
“Staff acted swiftly to avoid any damage to artefacts ."
The McLean Museum and Art Gallery opened its doors to the public in 1876 but since the 1970s, the council has managed the venue.
It reopened in 2019 at the end of a £2m programme of extensive structural renovations.
