DRAMATIC footage has shown a stricken tug being assisted by another vessel after running into trouble in waters off Greenock earlier today.
An eyewitness said the boat appeared to have run aground and received help from nearby ships following the incident earlier today near James Watt Dock.
They added: "I think she might have run aground, it looked like another boat was trying to help her.
"It's the same spot that yacht got stuck last month.
"I don't know if there was any damage, I think they took her into the dock afterwards.
"She was either hauled off the rocks by another boat or she managed to get off under her own steam."
When contacted by the Telegraph, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency stated they had no record of the incident.
The tug's operators, Atlantic Towage and Marine, told the Tele they were conducting their own investigation into the incident and said they would not been commenting further until their enquiries were complete.
