GOUROCK Golf Club is set to host a globally historic charity golf day to raise vital funds for Ardgowan.
Captain Norma Ramsay will lead out the players to celebrate 125 years of the oldest competitive inter-club competition in the world.
The big event will mark the anniversary of the Associated Clubs of Clyde, which has 12 members, also including Skelmorlie.
On the day there will be a mix of men, women and juniors competing with some fabulous prizes lined up from local sponsors.
By the end of the day they hope to raise thousands of pounds for good causes including the Ardgowan Hospice.
Organising committee chairman David Whyte said: "As part of our celebrations we are keen to give something back to our local communities and we are therefore delighted that the hospice will benefit from what we all hope will be a memorable day.
"We have had fabulous support from all our sponsors, and the individuals and businesses who have donated raffle prizes, and this will allow us to maximise the funds we can donate to the three hospices."
The Associated Clubs of Clyde - including Largs, Millport, Cowal and Rothesay - have decided to raise money on the day for three hospices, including Ardgowan.
Their anniversary golf event will take place at Gourock on July 23.
The Associated Clubs of Clyde (ACC) can be traced as far back as 1898 and is widely regarded as the oldest competitive inter-club competition in the world of golf.
Patrons and world famous golfters Sam Torrance and Ben Crenshaw will send congratulatory videos on the day.
Some of the fantastic raffles prizes include a four-ball at Trump Turnberry, Scotland v England football tickets, Morton hospitality, a Golden Casket hamper and a quad bike experience.
Other prizes include Inverclyde Leisure membership, various golf club four-balls and top of the range Wilson golf equipment.
The hard -working committee have managed to secure sponsorship from several companies to ensure that the costs of the day are fully covered.
They would like to thank M+J Builders Merchants of Greenock and Largs together with their sister company GTi Direct in Sandbank.
Others generously supporting the day are Merchant Homes, Hamilton Brothers, McMillan Motors, Kurek Building Services Ltd, Western Ferries and Whisky Partners (London). The raffle tickets, priced at £5 if you wish to purchase one then please contact Gourock Golf Club – 01475 631001.
