POLICE searching for missing man George Winters in Greenock are appealing for information from motorists who were in a specific street near the Esplanade.

Drivers who were at or near the junction with Bentinck Street on Sunday between 10.30pm on Sunday and 5.30am on Monday are being urged to come forward.

Mr Winters, 48, of Dalry in Ayrshire, was reported missing from the Aitken Street area of the Ayrshire town and was last seen at 7.15pm on Sunday.

He had bought a takeaway meal in nearby New Street and is believed to have travelled to Greenock in a greay Peugeot 307 Sport car, registration SH56 UPG, before parking at the Esplanade.

Police asking motorists with dash-cam footage to come forward.

Inspector Paul Thompson said: “George is described as around 5ft 8ins and has receding dark hair. It is not known what he was wearing.

“We are asking motorists who were in the area of Esplanade at the junction with Bentinck Street, Greenock between the hours of 10.30 pm on Sunday, 2 July and 5.30 am on Monday, 3 July, 2023 to come forward.

“If anyone saw his car being driven in the Greenock area or has dash-cam or private CCTV from that area or anyone who can assist is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 0030 of Monday, 3 July 2023.”
