CLYDEVIEW Academy head girl Ailsa Russell found herself centre stage with the Crown of Scotland at a historic coronation celebration for King Charles.
The sixth year student escorted the Duke of Hamilton as he carried the oldest of the crown jewels into St Giles Cathedral so the new Monarch could receive the Honours of Scotland.
There was full coverage of the event live on the BBC as King Charles was joined by Queen Camilla, as well as the Prince and Princess of Wales, known as Duke and Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland.
Ailsa's first engagement as head girl was to take part in the People's Procession in Edinburgh and then the national thanksgiving service at St Giles' Cathedral, where King Charles received the Honours of Scotland.
She was part of a delegation from Inverclyde invited to take part in the procession, along with Clydeview head boy Callum Charteris as well as head teacher Craig Gibson and principal teacher of music Alan Beck, who was invited to be involved in the commemorations in his other role as president of the Robert Burns World Federation.
Clydeview Academy's invitation came from the Lord Lyon, a member of the Royal Household, who had visited the school to celebrate their official Coat of Arms to mark the school's tenth anniversary.
