A CONVENIENCE store in Greenock has unveiled a £300,000 refurbishment which will see the shop become a ‘first class facility for the area’.

Eddy’s Food Station on South Street has been fully refurbished inside, with state-of-the-art fridges and freezers and a dedicated ‘food to go’ area being installed.

The upgrade is designed to support the shop’s fast food service, particularly at peak breakfast, lunch and dinner times.

The company says the work will protect 12 full and part time jobs and act as a boost for the local economy.

Greenock Telegraph:

Mike Leonard, head of retail, added: “When we purchased the store in August last year we could see huge potential to convert it into a fully modern-day convenience store serving quality food to our customers.

“We are pleased to have delivered a first class facility for the area and are proud to invest in the town and especially the local community around the store.

“One of the most satisfying aspects of the project has been not simply the visual transformation of the store but also the partnerships we have established with both national brands and local suppliers.

“We’re working with great companies such Iceland, Fife Creameries, Costa Coffee and Co-op.”

Greenock Telegraph:

Launched in 2021 by former Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson, Eddy’s Food Station currently runs four Scottish stores – with the others being based in Larbert, Buckhaven and Leuchars.

Over the next 12 months, the company plans to expand and is actively seeking opportunities in the west of Scotland.

Justin Addison, international nd wholesale director, said: “We are excited to be partnering with Eddy’s Food Station to enhance convenience for our customers.

“The expansion of Iceland Local will make our unique range of frozen and grocery products available to customers in a completely new type of location, complementing our 1,000 company-owned Iceland and The Food Warehouse stores on the nation’s high streets and retail parks.”
