THE leader of the local authority says the current council tax system has to change with new bands being introduced.
Stephen McCabe spoke out as he reacted to coverage of newly published Scottish Government proposals to hike the monthly charge for bands E through to H.
They would go up by 7.5 per cent and 22.5 per cent respectively at either end of that scale.
But in a made post on Twitter, Mr McCabe said: "There is no political will or cross-party consensus to replace council tax.
"It needs to be urgently reformed with additional bands added, a full revaluation undertaken and a review of the council tax reduction scheme."
