A GOUROCK-BORN entrepreneur has spoken of his shock and surprise at being named in King Charles’ first Birthday Honours List.
Peter O’Hara has been awarded an MBE in recognition of his services to the social care sector.
Raised and educated in Gourock, Peter went on to study at the Glasgow College of Technology.
He continued his education at Queen Mary’s College at the University of London in the 1970s, where he studied politics and economics.
In the 1990s, Peter founded OLM – a company which aims to make a positive difference to people’s life through use of technology.
Over the past three decades, OLM has made a ‘significant contribution’ to the modernisation and advancement of social care delivery.

As the world has evolved, OLM has steered innovation to provide next generation technology for the industry.
This includes flagship solutions such as the ECLIPSE platform for care, the Nalytics platform for discovery, and the CareKnowledge platform for personal development.
Peter told the Tele that the he was ‘deeply honoured and humbled’ to receive the honour, but dedicated it to his colleagues at OLM and across the wider sector.
He said: “It’s a complete shock and surprise. It’s really down to colleague and us working together for a long period of time.
“These things don’t tend to pass your way.
“Since it was announced, I’ve been inundated with congrats from across the sector.
“Personally I think it is a great acknowledgement of the industry.”

Peter remains CEO of OLM to this day, and said his ‘passionate belief’ that social care demonstrates the ‘best of public service’ continues to define the company’s work.
He added: “My parents instilled in all their children a passionate commitment to endeavour to support others in all we do in life. Social care has been my passion I have been blessed to work and collaborate with so many great people across the sector, I thank them for all the have taught me on my journey.”
