AN AMERICAN submarine was spotted off Inverclyde.
The vessel, which appears to be part of the US Navy's Ohio class, was seen making her way up the Firth of Clyde on Tuesday.
A Royal Navy spokesperson told the Tele: “Whilst we do not comment on submarine operations, we welcome our colleagues from the United States Navy as part of a planned and increasingly routine visit.

"International visits are routinely reciprocated and illustrate our commitment to allies around the world and the flexibility of key naval facilities in the UK."
Gourock resident Bob Dougans snapped the vessel from the back door of his home.
He said: “As soon as I spotted it with the escort boats, I just had to get some shots of her as she is a big sub.”
