A GOUROCK DJ is getting ready to cap off a busy ten days with a big local gig after launching a new record label and debuting his latest track.

Bruce Glenny’s new song, a remix of ‘Call It Love’ by Glasgow artist Rory James, went live at the end of last week, but the local artist hasn’t had time to enjoy his fans’ reaction to the new release.

The busy producer has instead quickly moved on to preparing for his next big gig in Inverkip this weekend - a twin stage festival organised by his events company Summer Friends Production.

In the midst of his hectic schedule, Bruce has also officially launched Skatty Records, his new record label which has already published several of his tracks.

The young musician told the Tele it was great to see the label get off the ground and said he was excited to see how it develops.

Bruce said: “When we were doing TRNSMT two years ago the USB with my set didn’t have a name on it and so we just called it the Skatty Records.

“It was stuff we liked to play, there wasn’t a particular genre.

“Skatty is slang for messy and exciting music, stuff that’s not regimented.

“When I brought out some of my previous tracks you needed to put a label down so I just said it was Skatty Records.

“It wasn’t a real label at that point, but when I came to put out this one someone suggested I started my own label.

“I decided to take Skatty Records into the limelight and do it properly.

“We’ve now got several proper artists coming up on it and my releases on it.

“We’ve got a lot of Glasgow artists as well as boys from Newcastle working on it as well.

“It’s cool to be showing off others as well as myself.

“It can be quite hard to get signed to a label and it’s quite exciting to have a platform to show off other people.

“We’ve already had people sending demos and asking about releasing on it so hopefully it can just grow, it’s a new part of the journey.”

Bruce's busy year has already seen him play big gigs in Miami and Newcastle, with him and his friends also staging a number of local shows.

But despite the packed schedule Bruce says his enthusiasm is still as high as ever.

He said: “We don’t stop, it’s always busy.

“We’ve got another Summer Friends Productions festival down at Inverkip, it’s got two stages this year and it’ll be fantastic.

“We’re going to have an acoustic stage and a DJ-based stage, which is another chance to collaborate and promote people.

“It’s really exciting to work with such a wide range of artists and genres.”
