A WEEKEND music festival at Cloch Caravan Park raised more than £3,000 for a man who lost all his belongings in a terrible fire.

Arlene Nicol and husband Davy, of the Urban Folkers, organised the gig to help Fergus Allardice, drafting in all their musician pals and asked her cousin Craig McClure, who runs the clubhouse there, if they could use the venue.

Greenock Telegraph:

Arlene, 57, who also performs with The Gallus Rose, said: "It was a brilliant weekend and we had an amazing turnout on both days. The highlight was the number of people who came along. The musicians gave up their own time and we had great help from so many people with the raffle and everyone really rallied together."

People gave donations at the door and as well as the raffle there was a silent auction, tombola and karaoke plus a a DJ.

Greenock Telegraph:

Fergus told the organisers he is very grateful.

Arlene said: "Fergus came along on Saturday and Sunday and thanked everyone for what they had done. He was quite emotional at times and said he couldn't believe all these people would do this for him."

Greenock Telegraph:

Mr Allardice, from Skelmorlie previously told the Telegraph that he felt lucky to be alive after the blaze ripped through his caravan home while he was out.

Fergus said: "Everything I owned was in there and I literally walked away with what I had on."

Greenock Telegraph:

Arlene says the final amount from the fundraising is still to be finalised as it includes proceeds from a pyschic night on the Thursday before.
