ARDGOWAN Hospice is hoping to bring the whole community together for its first ever fun day next month.

The beloved local charity is set to hold the special event at Greenock Cricket Club on August 27 between noon and 4pm.

The fun-filled afternoon will feature face painting, a treasure hunt organised by event sponsor Clyde Eats, meet the mascots,  plenty of stalls and live entertainment courtesy of The Prominence Academy of Performing Arts and Boogie Bugs.

There will also be a 50 foot assault course, a bouncy castle and beat the goalie sessions, as well as refreshments for those taking part in the fun.

Ardgowan Hospice’s fundraising manager Joanna Hunter told the Tele they hope the day will prove a big hit with locals.

She said: “This is our first fun day and we’re delighted to have Clyde Eats on board as our sponsor.

“Lynette Beaton from Boogie Bugs and Prominence has very kindly signed up as well and it’s great to have her on board.”

Clyde Eats founder Janine Brennan said she was pleased to be working with the hospice once again.

She added: “We give the hospice a percentage of the sales from every Clyde Eats order and we’ve been linking up with them a lot recently.

“It’s really important for us to give back to the community and Ardgowan Hospice is one of our main charities.

“The fun day will be amazing, a big part of our community is the local kids and especially in this area.

“We want to do everything we can to give back and put a bit of a smile on people’s faces."

Children’s wristband tickets for the event cost £10 and include a food and drink token worth £5.

They also allow youngsters unlimited use of the bouncy castle, 50-foot assault course and a beat the goalie stall.

Lynette Beaton, who runs Prominence and Boogie Bugs, hopes local people will show there support for the worthy cause by coming along to the fun day.

She said: “We’ve done a bit of work with Ardgowan Hospice in the past so we’re really excited to do this.

“We’ll have Boogie Bugs and Prominence here and it’s going to be a big party for all ages.

“We’re buzzing to be able to raise some money and awareness for a local cause that really does help every family at some point in our town.

“It’ll be a brilliant day, we’re raring to go.”
