AN ARMED robbery accused Greenock man charged with targeting a resident at knifepoint at a sheltered housing complex is today back on the streets after being allowed bail at the sheriff court.
George Schrickel is charged with assaulting the alleged victim at Armadale Court in the town last week by presenting a blade at him and repeatedly holding it to his body to his injury.
Prosecutors say that Schrickel, 44, was acting along with an accomplice whose identity is meantime unknown to the Crown during the alleged robbery on July 27.
He is accused of demanding the alleged victim's bank card and PIN number before taking the card from him.
Schrickel is said to have thereafter used a stolen bank card at ATM machines on Greenock's Regent Street, Cathcart Street and elsewhere to steal an as yet unspecified amount of cash.
The Crown says that Schrickel, of Regent Street, was on a sheriff court bail order granted last October at the time of the alleged robbery and money thefts.
He appeared from custody at the court on Tuesday afternoon and made no plea to the allegations through defence lawyer Aidan Gallagher.
Sheriff Sheena Fraser continued matters for further examination and granted Schrickel bail.
A date for the next calling of the case is to be confirmed.
