A WATER valve has been repaired in Greenock after almost 1,000 households suffered supply issues this morning.
Scottish Water was alerted to problems in the town earlier today and sent staff to investigate the issue.
They found the cause to be a fault on a valve on Mavis Road.
One resident, of Nevis Road, told the Tele that she had been without water since 1am.
Around 950 customers in the PA16 area were affected and are now beginning to see their supply restored.
Bottled water is being delivered to those still without supply.
A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: “We received reports in the early hours of this morning (Friday) that customers were experiencing interruptions to their water supplies in the Greenock area.
“Our teams investigated and found a fault to a valve on the network which has now been fixed.
“We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.”
Customers are warned they may experience discoloured water as supply restores.
Those who experience brown water should run the cold tap at a reduced pressure until it clears.
If water is running white, there is air trapped in the supply which is expected to clear within 24 to 48 hours.
