AN offender who sent threatening and abusive social media messages to a man has been placed under supervision for a year.
Arron Graham, 25, whom Greenock Sheriff Court was told has converted to Islam and now goes by the name Rakeem Abaad, admitted a charge of sending Instagram messages to a man that were grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character.
The Communications Act offence, which was committed at a flat in Lyle Street, took place in January last year.
Graham's solicitor, Paul Keenan, said he 'accepts full responsibility and shows considerable insight' into the incident.
Graham, of Wellington Street in Prestwick, was given a community payback order with a 12-month supervision requirement.
