THE academic year of 2015 saw the largest number of twins start school in Inverclyde, with no less than 19 teeny duos coming through the doors of schools.
This year saw 15 sets of twins begin their schooling locally, prompting the world's media to dub our community 'Twinverclyde.'
Video and pictures of the intake of twins have appeared as far away as Colombia and Malaysia and have created something of a publicity coup for Inverclyde.

Pic2: The twins phenomenon of Inverclyde goes back many years, with this shot of twelve sets of twins having been taken in 2014. Provost Robert Moran and councillor Terry Loughran joined the youngsters for a photocall at Greenock's Clyde Square.
Pic3: Twins Bryce and Kerr Purves posed up for the Tele camera before they headed out for their first day at Inverkip Primary School back in the year 2000.
Pic4: Inverclyde Provost Martin Brennan visited Ardgowan Primary School to meet up with three sets of twins who joined the school role in 2018.
Pic5: No less than thirteen sets of Inverclyde twins can be seen in this picture taken at a photocall held in Greenock's St Mary's Primary School in 2021.
We wish all the twins starting school this year, and all their classmates, good luck!
