ACTIVISTS from the Campaign to Save Inchgreen Dry Dock have welcomed a Conservative MSP's support for their cause.
Writing in his Tele column, Jamie Greene, who comes from Greenock, praised the group for their work.
Robert Buirds, campaign secretary, has welcomed his backing and wants to capitalise on it at Holyrood, where they have launched a petition calling for the asset to be nationalised.
Mr Buirds said: "We have now asked Jamie to support our Scottish Parliament petition by getting a debate in the chamber.
"He acknowledges it’s important that party politics should not interfere with the completion of the two ferries and the need for collaboration.
"Hopefully he can encourage his colleagues on the Petitions Committee to support a full debate on our petition."
