A MAJOR clear-up operation had to take place after a huge tree came down in the west end of Greenock during strong winds.
The tree crashed down onto the road where Robertson Street meets Denholm Street as strong gusts buffeted the area on Friday night.
A parked car was struck by part of the huge tree and sustained damage and the road was left completely blocked due to the size of it.
Council crews were called in on Saturday morning to begin removing the tree from the road.
Cutting equipment was used to break it up.
An onlooker said: "It's fortunate that no one was in the way of the tree when it came down."
