BRAVE ‘soles’ are set to take on a charity firewalk for a much-loved local cause.

Locals are being asked to walk over hot coals as part of the special fundraising event which is being organised by Ardgowan Hospice.

The event, which is being sponsored by Specsavers, will take place at Greenock Wanderers Rugby Club on October 27.

Ardgowan Hospice fundraising manager Joanna Hunter told the Tele the charity were pleased to be teaming up with Specsavers to hold their first-ever firewalk.

Joanna said: “Specsavers Greenock have always been a fantastic support to the hospice and have been involved in many of our fundraising events over the years, so we are delighted to be teamed up once again to bring our brand new firewalk event.”

As well as sponsoring the event, several members of the local specsavers team have agreed to take on the challenge themselves.

Store director of Specsavers Greenock Claire Kincaid, who will be taking part in the firewalk, said: “Bringing our community together to support incredible local causes such as the work carried out by the Ardgowan Hospice has always meant so much to our team at Specsavers, where we put the care of the local community front and centre.

“Best of luck to everyone taking part in the firewalk itself and helping to ignite what is hopefully a fantastic night for a fantastic cause.”

Registration for the event costs £20 and those who sign up will be given an hour and a half of motivational training, a t-shirt, a certificate, a food token and entertainment.
