MSP Jamie Greene says the rise in drug deaths in Inverclyde is 'a tragedy' as he calls for a renewed drive on getting help for those at risk in the area.
Latest figures show that 29 people died from drug-related deaths in Inverclyde in 2022, up from 16 in 2021.
He said: “The increase in deaths in Inverclyde, despite an overall national reduction, is very concerning.
"We must continue to focus in on the local challenges facing our communities in relation to drug dependency.
“Local authorities and organisations have been relentless in their efforts to tackle this issue, and I will continue to work with them to identify those unique local challenges, which we can then work to alleviate."
