DRIVERS from Inverclyde are being warned of lengthy road closure disruption in a neighbouring village.
Main Street in Bridge of Weir is to be shut to all traffic for approximately two months for a £1m Scottish Water project to alleviate sewer flooding.
It will be shut from October 9 for eight weeks until December 3 between Mill Brae and the Pow Burn to install the new sewer.
A diversion will be in place via the Barrochan Road, Houston Road and Bridge of Weir Road (B790) and road users are being asked to allow extra time for their journeys and follow all signage.
Georgina Reid, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs manager in the west said: “We have looked at all the options open to us, and the best is to carry on with the work under a full road closure for up to eight weeks.
“We recognise the impact this will have on the surrounding communities, and we will be working as quickly as possible to get this section of the project completed.”
