SCOTTISH spenders are being encouraged to use or exchange any £100 paper bank notes before they are withdrawn from circulation in less than four weeks' time.
The Committee of Scottish Bankers has set a September 29 deadline for using the notes, however, RBS, Clydesdale Bank, and Bank of Scotland will continue to accept all Scottish notes from their own customers.
These banks will also exchange their own paper £100 notes from non-customers up to the value of £200, provided that photo ID is presented.
Since 2015, the Scottish issuing banks have been introducing polymer notes into circulation, which are much harder to counterfeit and last longer.
