A DOG attack accused Larkfield woman charged with 'violently' throwing a pet chihuahua against a wall has been separated from the pooch by court order.

Christine McGhee - who is said to have caused the tiny canine unnecessary suffering - has been allowed bail on condition that she stays away from it.

Prosecutors say that McGhee, 51, picked the dog up and threw it against a wall at her York Road home last month, causing it to scamper away in fear.

She is further charged with headbutting a female police officer on the nose and with spitting at her colleague before allegedly trying to headbutt a third officer.

McGhee is facing a total of five charges relating to events which are alleged to have taken place on August 5.

McGhee also stands accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm by allegedly shouting, swearing and uttering threats.

She was granted bail by Sheriff Thomas Ward at an initial calling of the case at Greenock Sheriff Court.

The sheriff ordered that as a condition of her bail the dog must reside at another address and be kept away from her while the prosecution proceeds.

McGhee’s lawyer, Derek Buchanan, was asked by Sheriff Ward to confirm with his client that suitable accommodation could be found for the dog if the special bail condition was added.

The matter has been continued without plea on all charges and is due to call in court again on September 29.
