INVERCLYDE'S provost is urging people to get out and about in the area this weekend as a ‘brilliant’ programme of events get underway.
A number of buildings and venues are taking part in Doors Open Day, which runs on Saturday and Sunday.
The annual event seeks to encourage people to explore Inverclyde by visiting places and buildings of interest for free.
Several venues are participating in this year’s event – with a range of tours and activities on offer.
Provost Drew McKenzie said: “There is so much to discover in Inverclyde and Doors Open Days is the perfect opportunity to get out and about.
“A host of fun and informative events have been put together and caters for people of all ages and abilities.
“Best of all, Doors Open Days is completely free so I hope people take advantage and enjoy what looks certain to be a brilliant weekend of events and activities across Inverclyde.”
Visitors to the Beacon Arts Centre can take a guided tour of backstage areas at 11am, 2pm and 3:30pm on Saturday.
Gourock Park Bowling Club is offering an introduction to lawn bowling for all ages at 10am on Saturday.
Equipment will be provided, but participants are asked to bring flat shoes.
Volunteers will give guided tours at St Mary's Catholic Church between 11am and 4pm on Saturday and from 1pm-3pm on Sunday.
Members of St John the Evangelist in Greenock will also be on hand between 11am and 4pm on both days, with Wellpark Mid Kirk also welcoming visitors 12pm-4pm on Saturday and 1pm-3pm on Sunday.
Inverclyde Shed will run guided tours of the community workshop from 10am-12pm.
Wemyss Bay Station - which was voted as the UK's favourite station earlier this year - is offering guided tours at 11am, 12pm and 2pm.
There will also be a quiz for children, which is available from the station bookshop.
Greenock's Fire Heritage Museum will be open too, with 'storytime' sessions runing at 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm on Saturday and 1pm, 2pm and 3pm on Sunday.
Elsewhere, several walking and coach tours will be running at locations across Inverclyde.
