He said: “The community are with us every step that we take.

“This is our third major award in four years and that feels amazing to say.

“We’ve got a good team behind us and that’s what you need to achieve things like this. Hard work is the key.

“You might think the excitement would wear off when you’re getting your third award but it actually motivates us to do even better for the next year coming.

“We had some great competition for this award so we’re really pleased to have won it.

“Competition keeps everybody on their toes.”

Sal says the staff are keen to play a role in the community, which is why they continue to offer discounts for NHS staff and make donations to local foodbanks.

He added: “The community here in Port Glasgow is absolutely amazing, the support we get from them is brilliant.

“When we opened our sister restaurant in Kilmacolm and the support there was incredible as well.

“We put in hard work day in and day out and it’s good to get recognition for that.

“We try to pay back to the community when we can, we’re really grateful for the help we’ve received.

“I just want to say a big thanks to the customers, every week we’ve got loyal customers coming back and new ones coming in and that’s really special.

“This award is for them.”
