INVERCLYDE MP Ronnie Cowan has been left fuming by UK Government plans to roll back on net zero commitments.
Mr Cowan said: “When the UK Government recently rowed back on its green policies by moving back the date at which it will ban the sale of diesel and petrol cars by five years, reducing the target to end installation of all gas boilers by 20 per cent, reducing the targets for off grid oil boilers and reducing the energy efficiency targets for homes, it effectively said let the planet burn.
"The UK Government should be taking action to save the planet and in doing that they would also be addressing the precarious financial position faced by the majority of the population.
Mr Cowan has accused ministers of using the cost of living crisis as 'shield to deflect from the UK Government’s responsibility to our planet'.
He said: “The solution must be to decarbonise the economy and transform it to serve the people and protect our planet.”
