COMEDIAN Jay Lafferty from Gourock is bringing some laughter to her home town as she gets set for a gig here this week featuring a top line-up.
On the back of receiving five star reviews for her sold-out Edinburgh Fringe show, Bahookie, the mum-of-one will be starring in Pure Laughs at Royal Gourock Yacht Club.
The new comedy night has been put together by former BBC producer Rachel-Anne Clarke, who is from Greenock, and proved a big hit when it launched last month.
In the latest installment, comedy queen Jay will be joined by another star turn, Susan Riddell, who is headlining the show on Thursday night.
They top the bill with another local talent, Drew Haughey, joining them plus Jeannie Jones and Hannah Campbell.
Jay, 40, said: "I get really nervous coming home for a gig. There will be people I know from school in the audience!
"My friends from home used to come and see me all the time, but I have been doing this for 20 odd years now.
"They might come back for this one!
"I love coming home, it is great and I think what Rachel is trying to do with this new night is brilliant. We know each other well and she has big plans."
Jay says she will be getting a break from putting up Halloween decorations with her son to come along to Pure Laughs.
In recent years the comedian has talked about her IVF journey on stage but now the former Gourock High School pupil's life is taking a new direction including pole dancing and self help.
Her Bahookie show was a massive hit with festival audiences and Jay is now looking ahead to another exciting year of shows.
In the past as a community artist she worked with children with autism and she is now part of a project at The Stand venue in Glasgow working with schoolkids.
This week's Pure Laughs headliner Susan is a regular on hit BBC Scotland radio show Breaking the News.
She started off life as a writer before making the jump on stage and has never looked back, running her own comedy night in Glasgow.
Susan, 40, said: "I think it is brilliant that Rachel is bringing comedy to people in places like Gourock instead of people having to travel up to Glasgow.
"People can have a good night and don't need to worry about getting home.
"My comedy is very much about my dog and dating, but to be clear not dating my dog!
"I am looking forward to the show in Gourock.
"Rachel is very much like me, we want comedy to be fun for everyone, so you won't come and get attacked all night in the front row. There is banter but too much can put people off."
Pure Laughs is at to Royal Gourock Yacht Club this Thursday at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced £18 and available online at https://www.eventbrite.com
