MEMBERS of the public will have the chance to tour a 72-feet Challenger yacht in Greenock this weekend.
The Tall Ships Youth Trust (TSYT) will host an open day at James Watt Dock on Saturday.
Challenger 4 will be moored at the marina and open to the public, offering free and insightful guided tours between 10am and 4pm.
Tours will be hosted by members of TSYT’s offshore crew, who regularly sail and work with young people on board the charity’s vessels.
Those who attend will have the opportunity to learn more about the trust's ‘life-changing’ work.
The Portsmouth-based organisation has been operating for 67 years and empowers young people to realise their full potential by living and working together on its residential voyages.
A spokesperson said: “We’re so excited to be back in Greenock following our last visit as part of the Round Britain Adventure.
“As part of our new strategy, we’re working hard to raise awareness of our work further afield by establishing these regional hubs to help us reach as many young people as possible."
Challenger 4 will be operating out of Greenock until October 23, with groups of young people set to benefit from five-day youth development voyages exploring the Scottish isles.
To celebrate the open event, TSYT is offering people in Greenock and surrounding areas an exclusive discount on voyages.
Discount codes will be available at the open day event.
