CONSERVATIVE MSP Jamie Greene says the UK Government's extra £20m for regenerating Greenock town centre is a 'massive boost' for the area.
The money for Greenock, announced this week, will be paid to the council over 10 years to be spent on local priorities, with a town board created to make decisions.
West Scotland MSP Mr Greene said: “This is further evidence of the UK Government’s commitment to levelling-up all parts of the country, including Greenock, and entrusting local people to make the right decisions as to what is best for the places they live in.
“This funding is a massive boost for Greenock during these challenging economic times and will allow money to be spent on local priorities such as revitalising the town centre, improving local transport links, keeping communities safe and growing the local economy.
“I’d encourage the SNP-Green government to welcome this funding for Greenock and work closely with the UK Government to ensure this funding is delivered in the right way."
