A GREENOCK fast food restaurant has ensured £5,000 goes to a vital Inverclyde support service.

The team at McDonald's in James Watt Way secured the cash for Mind Mosaic Child and Family Therapies through a scheme which makes use of the 10p charge for carrier bags.

The funds were gathered via the new McDonald's in the Community Foundation, a centralised hub which helps distribute money to charities and organisations across Scotland.

The foundation was set up by 16 Scottish McDonald's franchisees alongside 20 McDonald's-owned restaurants.

Mind Mosaic Child and Family Therapies provides play therapy and counselling services for children and young people.

Chief executive Sandra Boyle said: "I would like to convey our sincere gratitude for this marvellous donation to our small local charity.

"The funds will go directly to providing essential play therapy and counselling services for children and young people in the community and will make a huge difference to us."

McDonald’s franchisee Alan Halliday added: "Mind Mosaic offers fantastic services to some of the most vulnerable people in the local area, and we are delighted to help them with this donation."
