A POPULAR Greenock bakery is shut today in a touching tribute to a much missed local man.

Purdie's Pantry is closed for today to mark the one year anniversary of Inverclyde Amateurs legend Tommy Boyle's tragic passing.

Tommy was the father of Purdie's Pantry co-owner Rebecca, who runs the bakery with her wife Rachel.

Warm tributes were paid to Tommy at a memorial game organised earlier this year.

His former team-mates came together for the charity match at the Battery Park, which raised £600 for the vital charity Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs.

Tommy's family also raised money for Man On Inverclyde, who help support men with mental health issues, at his funeral.
