A MAN from Inverkip who kicked and headbutted the windows and doors of a police cell van has had his sentencing hearing delayed.
Ross Shearer, 40, was due to learn his fate at Greenock Sheriff Court on October 4 but a background report wasn't ready.
Shearer was previously convicted of two charges, having been found in possession of a pair of scissors without reasonable excuse and behaved in a threatening or abusive manner towards police.
On March 12 last year, during a journey between Inverkip Road and Greenock police office, he behaved in an aggressive manner, shouted, kicked and headbutted the windows and door of a police cell van and threatened to spit on four officers.
Defence solicitor Aidan Gallagher told the hearing Shearer didn't attend an appointment for the report to be prepared as a family member had taken unwell.
Sheriff Neil Kinnear told him: "I am sorry to hear that but nonetheless this is a serious matter and you need to attend the appointment."
The case was adjourned until November 1.
