A MAN charged with knifing a woman at a Greenock flat and threatening to kill her has claimed he was acting in self-defence.
Drew Murdoch is said to have repeatedly struck the alleged victim on the body with a blade to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
Prosecutors claim the 30-year-old assaulted another female by seizing her by the throat and pushing her against a wall to her injury at the same property in Nelson Street on December 11 last year.
Murdoch is further alleged to have spat, shouted and swore at Inverclyde Royal Hospital on the same day in 2022 when he allegedly shouted a series of violent and offensive threats and damaged a police vehicle by repeatedly kicking it.
He appeared from custody at Greenock Sheriff Court on October 4 as his solicitor, Aidan Gallagher, maintained pleas of not guilty to the three indictment charges.
A special defence of self-defence was lodged and Sheriff James Varney continued the case to trial on October 16.
