INVERCLYDE is in the grip of yet more flood misery today as a projected MONTH'S worth of rain is set to be dumped across the district and elsewhere today.
The A8 is closed at Cappielow in both directions with heavy traffic building up on side roads as buses and motorists seek diversions.
Cars resembled speed boats as they made their way through large ponds of water that have built up already in several places.
Eldon Street in Greenock is also closed as is East Hamilton Street, Ladyburn Street in both directions, as well as the Bankfoot Roundabout on the A78.
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has issued flood across across the west of Scotland and has reported that a month's worth of rain is expected today.
The rain began at 3am this morning and it is not expected to abate until 6am tomorrow - fully 15 hours of incessant downpour.
Police Scotland have issued a travel warning for high risk of disruption.
Between 80 and 100mm of rain is expected, with as much as 180mm possible, according to Traffic Scotland.
