THE Inverclyde Libraries service has been nominated for a national award in recognition of making an 'outstanding contribution to communities in the area'.
It is on a shortlist of nominees for the 2023 Scottish Library & Information Council (SLIC) Awards.
SLIC chair, Professor Ian Ruthven, who led the awards judging panel, said: “We congratulate all those who were nominated for this year’s awards. The entries share common values of community-mindedness, empathetic decision-making, and passion for what a library service can offer."
Inverclyde Libraries were shortlisted for ‘Collective Focus on Health and Wellbeing for Service Excellence’ in the Library Service Excellence category, up against East Lothian and Midlothian.
The awards organisers praised IL's 'strong strategic approach which has delivered a co-designed health and wellbeing service with a strong focus on self-management and preventing ill-health'.
They highlighted an 'incredible range' of activities for all ages and an enviable range of partners and said Inverclyde Libraries was working at full throttle to identity and support the needs of their local communities.
Winners will receive a trophy and cash prize.
They will be announced on November 3.
