PLANS to build a battery energy storage facility on countryside land near Greenock have been lodged with Inverclyde Council.
Big Battery Company (Flatterton) Ltd are seeking permission to install 13 containerised battery storage units with associated equipment in a field next to Flatterton Farm.
The facility would allow energy from renewable sources such as windfarms to be stored and then released when the power is required.
It would be connected to the electricity grid by an underground cable.
