EIGHT trees are to be cut down within the grounds of a local school.
Rowan trees, a silver birch, a holly tree and a red tree will be axed from the grounds of St Columba's junior school after council officials approved the work.
Permission has also been given for coppicing work to be carried out on five laurel trees and deadwood will be removed from a sycamore.
A horse chestnut tree on the grounds can also now be thinned and have its height reduced by 30 per cent.
