The owners of one of the most prestigious hotels in Largs have announced significant changes to the operation of the business.
The Manorview Group announced on Monday that the Brisbane House Hotel is to close for four months for upgrade works.
The company says that when the hotel opens in the spring, the bar and restaurant facilities within Largs most prestigious hotel, will no longer be available for public use.
They say they plan to fully concentrate on hosting weddings, private functions and events.
In a statement posted on the hotel's website, a company spokesperson said: "We're closing for a while.
"We are closing over the winter period to allow us to make some upgrades throughout the building.
"Our last day open will be Saturday October 28. We’ll then close from Sunday October 29, and plan to re-open on March 1 – but with some changes.
"After much consideration, we’ve decided to focus on delivering weddings, private functions and events, and hotel breaks.
"We feel we have much to offer in these areas, and we love to help people from Largs and beyond celebrate life’s many moments.
"That said, the restaurant and bar will no longer be open to the public.
"This has been a difficult decision. But we know our many neighbouring cafes, bars, and restaurants will continue to offer the people of Largs fabulous places to eat and drink.
"We will continue to attract visitors to our hotel to help support those businesses too.
"We will be available for private dining, parties, events, gatherings, and funerals. And we will share more information on that when we re-open.
"Our hotel rooms will be available to book on a B&B basis.
"And for weddings, we’re excited to offer Brisbane House as an exclusive-use venue. This means couples and guests will have the entire venue to themselves.
"More information on this – and the upgrades we’re making for weddings, will come soon.
"We want to thank you for your continued support of our business. More information will come as we re-open in the spring.
"If you’re planning a visit in the coming weeks before we close – we look forward to seeing you then."
The hotel in Greenock Road was taken over by the Manorview group last summer for an undisclosed sum.
It was previously run by the Fitzsimmons Group.
At the time of the takeover the Manorview Group stated: “The location is fantastic. Largs has so much to offer both the local people and visitors from near and far.
"With its coastal setting, the hotel itself not only boasts stunning views, but we feel it also gives guess a real sense of escape and relaxation."
The hotel joined a portfolio that also includes the Bowfield Hotel and Country Club in Howwood, Boclair House in Bearsden, the Cornhill Castle in Biggar, and the recently refurbished Redhurst in Giffnock.
Manorview is an independent Scottish hospitality group which was established in 2006.
Following the takeover an application was made to North Ayrshire Council for various changes within the hotel, including the formation of a new first floor honeymoon suite with new external balcony, alterations to the existing ground floor glazing to form new sliding openers to the function room, new glazed doors and a new glazed entrance canopy.
