THE A78 will be closed overnight on Wednesday into Thursday at Wemyss Bay.
Network Rail needs to survey the railway bridge on Shore Road and the trunk road will be shut from 10pm on October 25 until 6am the following morning.
Darren Dickson, project manager for Network Rail, said: “The work we’re undertaking will provide vital information on the condition of this railway bridge and is crucial for the long-term future reliability of the line.
“Working on the railway at night offers the safest environment for our teams and causes the least disruption to our passengers and freight trains. However, we understand the inconvenience this work will cause some people.
“We would like to thank those affected for their patience and understanding and offer assurances that every effort has been made to reduce the impact of our activities as much as possible.”
