MP Ronnie Cowan is urging constituents not to miss out on a Warm Homes Discount from their energy supplier.
Scottish Gas has launched its scheme to aid those on lower incomes this year, while the other major energy supplier, Scottish Power, is expected to do so soon.
Under the Scottish Gas plan households on low incomes can apply directly to the company for a one-off payment of £150.
In a separate scheme households can apply to the independent Scottish Gas Energy Trust for help to clear domestic gas and electricity debts.
It is open to customers of all energy suppliers.
Applicants must demonstrate debts of between £250 and £1,500 and that they have received money or debt advice.
Constituents can apply for grants of up to £1,500 through the Individual and Families Fund or through the Energy Support Fund which is solely funded by Scottish Gas’ profits.
Mr Cowan said: "This winter my constituents will still face extremely high heating and lighting costs and the UK Government has withdrawn its universal £400 payment for households that we saw last year.
"All of this of course is on top of persistently high inflation and persistently high food and petrol prices.
"That makes it even more vital that households on low incomes apply as soon as possible.
"I appreciate that these measures may seem complex and confusing, but they are there to help, and I would urge any of my constituents in need of advice or assistance to contact my office."
