TRAINS between Inverclyde and Glasgow Central are running as normal again after passengers faced lengthy disruption due to a train fault and ‘lineside fire’.
ScotRail services to and from Gourock and Wemyss Bay were affected after a breakdown at Paisley Gilmour Street at around 10.30am.
Passengers were then subjected to further disruption when a tree came into contact with overhead power lines near Bishopton at noon, causing a small blaze.
The power was temporarily switched off while teams worked to resolve the issue and remove nearby vegetation.
Network Rail Scotland said: “Part of the tree was resting on our electricity cables and caught fire.
“The line has now reopened, and services are now running normally.”
CLEAR: Disruption caused by failure of the electricity supply between Bishopton and Paisley Gilmour Street has now ended. Services between Glasgow Central and Wemyss Bay/Gourock are no longer being affected.

Commuters also faced disruption earlier in the day when sea spray caused problems with the electrical supply in Gourock.
Services to and from both Gourock and Wemyss Bay are now running to timetable.
