AN inspirational schoolgirl is doing her bit to help the needy this Christmas by selling festive decorations to her friends and family.

Lauren Brown has been raising money for Ardgowan Hospice and the Little Princess Trust by creating personalised Christmas doorhangers and baubles and exchanging them for donations.

The kind-hearted eight-year-old told the Telegraph she hoped the cash would help out struggling locals during the busy festive period.

Lauren said: “I really wanted to help these two charities.

“When I was four, I gave ten inches of my hair to the Princess Trust because they do lots of good work.

“It’s for little girls that have cancer and I wanted to give them my hair so they could have some too.

“Some of the people in my family have been in Ardgowan Hospice, so I know how much help they can be, which is why I wanted to help them as well.

“My mum went and got me Christmas doorhangers with lots of personalised names on them.

“She took pictures of them when they were done and put them on Facebook and loads of people wanted them, so we went and bought 140 Christmas baubles too.

“There were so many people that wanted them, lots of people have been giving us extra money because of the good causes they’re going towards.

“It’s feels really nice to help people out, I always want to do it.”

Lauren has already raised hundreds for various good causes with her previous fundraisers and hopes her latest effort will bring in more cash for those in need.

Her mum Sarah says she is so proud of her daughter’s generosity.

She added: “I couldn’t ask for a nicer daughter.

“She’s the type of wee girl that always wants to help people, whether it’s giving money or helping them out.

“She’s very kind-hearted and she’s been like that ever since she was wee.

“I’m so proud of her.”
