INVERCLYDE’S mortality rate dropped by more than 30 per cent in September, according to the National Records of Scotland.
New figures show that the area recorded 74 deaths last month, compared to 110 in August.
Across Scotland, a total of 4,692 deaths were reported.
Daniel Burns, vital events statistician at NRS, said: “The mortality rate in September was six per cent lower than the five year average for this month, which is considered a statistically significant difference."
