A DRINK driver who was more than three times the limit when she was behind the wheel of her car at a Port Glasgow fast food restaurant has been banned from the roads.

Dannielle Hendry was under the influence when she was caught driving a Citroën on October 16 last year at the Port's McDonald's and elsewhere in Greenock.

The 42-year-old had consumed so much booze that the proportion of it in her urine was 218mcg/100ml of urine, exceeding the prescribed limit of 67mcg/100ml.

Hendry previously pleaded guilty to the Road Traffic Act offence and was placed on a structured deferred sentence.

A hearing at Greenock Sheriff Court last week was told by defence solicitor, Edel McGinty, that a report on her progress since the last calling of the case was 'glowing'.

Hendry was fined £160 and must pay the sum within 28 days.

Sheriff James Spy said the financial penalty 'would've been much, much higher in normal circumstances' but no further details were provided to the court.

Hendry was also disqualified from driving for 12 months - however, if she completes a drink driving rehabilitation scheme by next June the ban will be reduced by a quarter.
