A MAN walked into Greenock police office with a petrol can at 5.30am and declared he was going to 'blow up' his uncle's house.

Jordan McAllister told a duty officer that there was fuel in the canister and he would use it unless he got to speak to someone.

McAllister, 22, behaved in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm in the early hours on October 1.

He pleaded guilty to the offence through defence solicitor Aidan Gallagher.

McAllister made his way to the front bar before making the violent threat, stating: “I need to speak to an officer and if I don’t speak to an officer now I’m going to go to my uncle's house and blow it up.”

The court heard that police witnesses asked McAllister what was within the canister and that he replied: “Petrol and I’m going to use it if I don’t get to speak to an officer.”

McAllister, of Cathcart Street, also made threats against an officer.

He had arrived at the station at around 5:30am on October 1 carrying a canister in a bag.

McAllister was promptly informed of his arrest, cautioned and charged, to which he made no reply.

His not guilty plea to a charge of repeatedly threatening to ‘find police officers outside of work’ was accepted by the Crown.

Sheriff Edward Gilroy deferred sentencing to allow for the preparation of social work reports and asked for a restriction of liberty order assessment to be carried out.

McAllister was granted bail and will return to court on November 22 for sentencing.
