INVERCLYDE'S MP has slammed the content of the The King's Speech.
Ronnie Cowan claims the UK Government's new programme offers 'no help at all for the cost-of-living crisis and no new powers for Holyrood'.
He said: "To tackle the cost-of-living crisis the SNP wants to see the £400 energy bill rebate reinstated, mortgage interest tax relief to try to help with the enormous damage done in the disastrous Liz Truss budget and action to reduce food and fuel prices.
"The two Westminster UK parties have the same policies on Brexit, the two-child cap, austerity and fossil fuels.
"So it is clear independence is the only way for Scotland to build a wealthier and fairer future.
"The King's Speech said that hard decisions need to be taken, but it was written by a billionaire Prime Minister.
"And it was delivered by a man sitting on a gold throne wearing a crown full of jewels.
"The disconnect between Westminster and the hard choices facing Scots because of its policies is there for all to see.
"The London-based parties are trying to outdo each other to win votes in England so they completely disregard Scotland.
"Scots deserve better than this."
