A WEMYSS Bay man repeatedly tried to bite a police officer after shouting racial remarks and attempting to seize a knife, it is alleged.
Girjit Singh Benning, 44, is accused of throwing houshold items, furniture and liquid about his Leapmoor Drive home.
Prosecutors say he shouted, swore, uttered racial remarks and thereafter tried to seize a knife before making threats of violence and sexual remarks.
It is alleged that Benning struggled with police officers before assaulting one by repeatedly attempting strike and bite him.
He is said to have committed the alleged offences on February 3.
The case has been continued without plea through lawyer Edel McGinty at Greenock Sheriff Court until December 1
