SERVICES of Remembrance were held here in almost perfect autumn weather to pay tribute to the fallen of two world wars and subsequent conflicts.
Here are some pictures from the Telegraph archives which show the people of Inverclyde paying their respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Pic1: Taken in the year 2000, this shot shows army cadets laying a wreath in front of a large number of people who turned out to pay their respects to The Fallen at the Service of Remembrance at the Gourock Cenotaph.
Pic2: Pipers of the French Navy attended the Remembrance wreath laying ceremony on Lyle Hill, Greenock in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Free French Memorial in 2016.
Pic3: This shot features members of Inverclyde Council and representatives of the armed forces marching down Port Glasgow's John Wood Street towards the cenotaph to the sound of the pipes in 2005.
Pic4: This was the astonishing scene as Provost Martin Brennan paid respects to the fallen on behalf of the people of Inverclyde during the depths of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
Pic5: There can be few locations in the world that can sum up up the beauty and solemnity of Remembrance Sunday more than our own Lyle Hill.
The Cross of Lorraine stands over our community as a poignant reminder of those who gave their lives to preserve our freedom.
